The most anticipated female-led movies of 2020

This year is an exciting one for moviegoers, as we can expect more female-led blockbusters than ever before. It doesn’t matter if you enjoy taking a trip to the local cinema, or indulge in binge-watching sessions while curled up on your sofa with a glass of something delicious – these are some of the movies you cannot miss in 2020.

Wonder Woman 1984

If you’re into action movies, this next installment of the franchise is something to look out for. Gal Gadot is certainly a woman we can learn from. She was focused on developing her career since early childhood, and now the new Wonder Woman title is predicted to break $1 billion at the box office. It’s the biggest female-led title of 2020 and something that you should see on the big screen to fully appreciate the breathtaking action scenes.

Mulan

Perhaps you still remember Disney’s animated adaptation of the story from 1998. Now the same movie studio comes back with a new release, but on a much grander scale. The movie is directed by Niki Caro, and the titular role is filled by Liu Yifei, who was picked by Disney Pictures following a casting call of over 1000 actresses. With a budget of around $200 million, this is going to be one of the most spectacular female-led releases of the year.

Black Widow

Directed by Cate Shortland, this title starring Scarlett Johannsson is also likely to break the $1 billion barrier in worldwide ticket sales. It’s yet another Marvel movie, but this time it tells a full story of Natasha Romanoff, the Russian spy who must confront her past. Scarlett has long been one of the most popular figures in the MCU universe, and it’s going to be exciting to see the continuation of her story. The movie is due to release on May 1.

The Eternals

This movie will feature some of our favorite movie stars, Angelina Jolie and Salma Hayek. It’s another release from Marvel Comics studios, which clearly mastered the subtle art of producing blockbuster superhero movies. It’s directed by Chloé Zhao and set for release in early November 2020. Unlike Black Widow, which is a continuation of the story after “Captain America: Civil War,” “The Eternals” is something different altogether. The story goes that Eternals is an alien race that has been secretly hiding on earth for over 7000 years. Now, Jolie and Hayek, as these immortal beings, will have to guard humanity from their evil counterparts, the Deviants.

These are just a few of the titles you should include in your “must-watch” category this year. So get that popcorn and your favorite drink ready, and prepare for the thrills.
