Humans and dogs have lived amongst each other for thousands of years. Dogs have been domesticated and trained to be man’s best friend. They’ve been bred for different reasons, some are meant for hunting, others protecting, and some simply for pure design. These “designer” breeds take a lot of work and are very valuable among dog breeds. These are some of the rarest dog breeds in the world today.

Aussie Pom

The Aussie Pom is a mix between an Australian Shepherd and a Pomeranian. It has the adorable fluffiness of the Pomeranian and the coloring of the Shepherd. They are small in size and very affectionate.

Corgle/Beagi

This dog is a mix between a Corgi and a Beagle. It has the body of a Corgi, coloring of a Beagle to make it one of the most adorable dogs around.

Pomsky

Pomskies are one of the most popular designer breeds out there. It’s a mix between a Pomeranian and a Husky. They are small, but they have a ton of energy.

These little pups are a mix between a Dalmatian and a Dachshund. They sport the spots of the Dalmatian and the body of a Dachshund.

Corgipoo

Even the name is adorable! This rare breed is a hybrid of a Corgi and a Poodle. Don’t worry about size. They stay pretty small.

Here we have a Corgi in a Dalmatian costume. Just kidding! The Dalcorgi is a mix between a Corgi and a Dalmatian and turns out to be an absolutely adorable dog.

What happens when you mix a Chihuahua with a Beagle? You get a spunky dog called a Cheagle! While they don’t have the sense of hunting like a Beagle, they are friendly and adorable.

Known as one of the fluffiest dogs around, the Chow Chow is an adorable dog that originated in China. They are very territorial and will protect their owners at all costs.

Kooikerhondje

While the name is a challenge to pronounce, this dog is absolutely beautiful with long hair and copper, white, and brown fur. Their faces are very expressive as well. They originated in the Middle East.

These curly-haired dogs are full of energy and very easy to train. The breed originated in Italy and was used to find truffles in the woods. Their average life-span is 15 years, which means you get to spend a whole lot of time with your pup!

Saluki

Saluki translates to “the Noble” in Arabic, which fits this breed perfectly. Its ancestors were hunting dogs for people living in the Fertile Crescent in ancient times.

Akita

The Norwegian Lundehund loves to be outdoors, no matter what the weather is. It has unique features from other dogs such as the ability to close its ears and it has six toes instead of five.
