Mark Twain

Mark Twain is an American author who grew up poor after his father died when he just was 11 years old. Twain just wanted to become rich, and even though he married up on the social ladder, his dream sadly never came true.

After the success of Grant’s biography and “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer,” Twain’s publishing house unfortunately had to file for bankruptcy. His financial failings contributed to depression and, in 1894, he declared bankruptcy.

With a popular speaking tour and more successful writing- Twain got back on his feet financially, but he then lost a $30,000 investment with protein powder.
