Collie
If you want a true member of the family, consider a Collie. Initially bred to herd and protect livestock, they have become one of the most beloved family dogs around the world. They are energetic and trustworthy, quickly immersing themselves into the family. They are especially good with children and other pets, making them perfect for growing families. Easily trainable, you can often find them competing (and winning) in agility exercises. They require a fair amount of brushing to keep their coats silky and healthy. Highly devoted and intelligent, a Collie makes an excellent family dog.
